Trish Bell, Co-chair of the Miami Science Museum’s Board of Trustees
Mrs. Bell has been an active supporter of the Miami Science Museum for over 20 years and a member of the Museum’s Board since 1997. She has long been an active member of the Museum’s “Patrons” support group, holding numerous offices including president, fair chair and major event planner, and she chairs the Museum’s “Leadership Circle” for major Museum donors. She and Mr. Bell also chaired the Museum’s first annual Galaxy Gala in 2003. Mrs. Bell is also actively involved with numerous other community organizations. She is currently on the Board of the Community Partnership for the Homeless, and is an active supporter of the American Red Cross, The Villagers, the University of Miami Women’s Guild, Gables Estates Club, Kendall United Methodist Church, among others. A resident of Coral Gables, Mrs. Bell majored in music education at High Point College.
Dan Bell, Co-chair of the Miami Science Museum’s Board of Trustees
Mr. Bell is co-founder and Chairman of Kos Pharmaceuticals and has been on the Museum’s Board since 2002. He has overseen the growth of Kos from its inception in 1988 into a 1,000-employee fully-integrated specialty pharmaceutical company with its own national sales force and several internally-developed proprietary products, principally in the cardiovascular field. Prior to founding Kos, Mr. Bell was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Miami-based Key Pharmaceuticals. Before the Bells, who now reside in Coral Gables, moved to Miami in 1977, Mr. Bell was an executive with Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. Mr. Bell holds BA and MBA degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Walter L. Revell, Chair of the Construction Committee of the Miami Science Museum’s Board of Trustees
Walter Revell is a member of the Miami Science Museum’s Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Board of Trustees’ Construction Committee. He led the Construction Committee in the selection process for the design and executive architects for the Museum’s new building at Museum Park. He continues to play an important role in the planning process for Miami Science Museum’s new building. Mr. Revell is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Revell Investments International, Inc., a diversified investment, development and management company located in Coral Gables, Florida. Mr. Revell also serves as a Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of The St. Joe Company, a publicly traded company that is Florida’s largest land owner and real estate developer, as a Director and member of the Audit Committee of Rinker Group Limited, a large multinational corporation based in Australia with extensive operations in the United States, and as a Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of International Finance Bank in Miami, Florida. He is also the chairman of the Audit Committee of NCL’s Board of Trustees. He served as Chairman and CEO of H.J. Ross Associates, Inc., consulting engineers, planners and scientists, and continues as Senior Advisor to the new parent company, T.Y. Lin International, in San Francisco. Mr. Revell served as Secretary of Transportation for the State of Florida in the Askew Administration
Taffy Gould, Member of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Nominating Committee of the Miami Science Museum’s Board of Trustees
Taffy Gould is a member of the Miami Science Museum’s Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Board of Trustees’ Nominating Committee. Five generations of her family have visited and been actively involved in the Museum. Ms. Gould has been actively involved in the Museum since she was invited to join the Museum’s Board of Trustees in 2003 by Board Co-chairs Trish and Dan Bell. Joining the Museum’s Board of Trustees was a natural fit for Ms. Gould who for many years has been interested in science, especially medicine, anthropology, archaeology, invention and engineering. She is Chairperson of E-Medical Education Ltd. which focuses on providing online medical education to health care professionals around the world.
Joe Falk, member of the Executive Committee and Vice Chair of the Miami Science Museum’s Board of Trustees
Joe Falk joined the Miami Science Museum Board of Trustees in 1993 and is currently Vice Chair of the Board and member of its Executive Committee. He is also the Chair of the museum’s Capital Campaign Committee. As a policy consultant with the Law Firm of Akerman Senterfitt, he represents clients before local, state and federal governments. He also has extensive experience in the mortgage banking industry, and has served as the Legislative Chairman and President of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB), where he directed the legislative and regulatory affairs efforts. He is knowledgeable in public affairs and has made numerous presentations on mortgage regulation throughout the United States and has testified before Congress on a variety of mortgage regulatory and financial reform issues. He was a member of the Federal Reserve Board Consumer Advisory Council from 2007 to 2009. Mr. Falk is the current Secretary and Board member of the Victory Fund, a national political organization whose mission is to find, train and elect openly LGBT candidates for public office. He holds a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. degree from Franklin and Marshall College.
Victor Alvarez, member of the Executive Committee, Vice Chair, and Secretary of the Miami Science Museum’s Board of Trustees
Victor Alvarez joined the Museum’s Board of Trustees in 2001 and is Vice Chair and Board Secretary of the board’s Executive Committee. Victor Alvarez primarily represents financial institutions and sponsors/borrowers in corporate, project and structured finance transactions, particularly in Latin America. He has extensive experience in representing issuers, underwriters, dealers and other financial intermediaries in all aspects of international and Latin American capital markets transactions, including the private and public offering of equity securities and debt securities. Mr. Alvarez is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, the Florida State Bar and the New York State Bar. He holds a B. A. degree from the University of Miami and a J.D. degree from the University of Iowa.
Marko Dimitrijevic, member of the Executive Committee of the Miami Science Museum’s Board of Trustees
Marko Dimitrijevic joined the Miami Science Museum Board of Trustees in 2005 and is a member of its Executive Committee and Finance and Audit Committee. He is the founder and chief investment officer of Everest Capital, with over 32 years of experience in international investment management and research analysis. Prior to establishing Everest Capital in 1990, he was an analyst on Wall Street and managed large securities portfolios for a Fortune 500 company. A strong believer in conducting on the ground due diligence, he has traveled to more than 100 countries. Mr. Dimitrijevic is featured in the books Inside the House of Money and Investing with the Hedge Fund Giants.
Mitch Less, member of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Investment/Endowment Committee of the Miami Science Museum’s Board of Trustees
Actively involved in the community, Mitch Less joined the Miami Science Museum Board of Trustees in 2002 and is Board Treasurer, Executive Committee member, Chair of the Finance and Audit and Endowment and Investment Committees. Mitch Less is an Audit Partner for the South Florida offices of Grant Thornton LLP and has over 20 years of experience in public accounting. He is one of the leaders of the firm’s Florida Real Estate and Hospitality Practice. His experience includes serving clients in auditing as well as consulting, with particular emphasis in the real estate and hospitality industries. He is a member of the Mount Sinai Medical Center Board of Trustees and its Finance and Audit Committee. He is also a member of the Florida International University President’s Council, Athletic Committee Liaison of the university’s Board of Trustees and a member of its School of Accounting Advisory Board. He is an Advisory Board member of the University of Central Florida’s College of Business Administration. He holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Central Florida.
