Welcome to MiaSci Blog, your sneak peak into the NEW Miami Science Museum project set to open its doors in Downtown Miami’s Museum Park in 2014.
This blog is designed to be a portal for the community with complete and up-to-the-minute information on the new museum project, giving you, the reader an opportunity to actively participate in the dialogue surrounding the progress of the new building. Take some time to explore the site and learn more about the project, its architects, and the team making it happen. We encourage you to participate! Comment on our posts and send us your ideas for topics that you want to see covered here. In the coming months, our blog team will share insider information, keep you abreast of the latest developments, make you aware of upcoming events, share building designs and concept photos and on occasion, you will also be able to read postings from special guest bloggers including design team members, architects, supporters and our senior managers.
For a taste of what’s to come, stop by the current museum in the fall. Be one of the first to test interactive elements of the Energy Playground, a permanent fixture in our future building that includes an energy-powered dance floor, the first one of its kind in the United States. See prototypes of potential green roofs for the new building being tested in our Wildlife Center. Our concept design model will soon be on display in our lobby. Come by and take a look at what Museum Park will look like, with its centerpiece, the new Miami Science Museum. Stay tuned!

ABSOLUTELY THRILLED to see the plans for our new museum!!!
Great way to showcase (educate and sustain) the natural beauty that surrounds us here in South Florida.
How wonderful! What a gem!
Congratulations!!!

WOW! How beautiful! So glad this project is underway.
My mother Helen Malakoff was a leader of the Sponsors group in the 1960s. The Sponsors and the Patrons groups volunteered many hours in the Gift shop, Around the World Fair, luncheons and other events raising money for the Planetarium and other projects. Their efforts were new beginnings in the 60s toward a great science museum which now continues.
